Donate to Become a Friend of the Oxford Symposium

The Friends of the Oxford Symposium fund activities that enrich the Symposium’s intellectual purpose. Over the last few years symposiasts have donated  £21,000 to the Friends. These funds have been spent on special projects and scholarships to students and young chefs.
The first project of the Friends was to digitise all past Proceedings and publish them both at Google Books and at our own Oxford Symposium website. As of June, 2017, more than 350,000 people have looked at the Proceedings online, downloading over 2,6 million pages. In comparison, approximately 6,000 people have attended the Oxford Symposium since its inception.  All online proceedings are also fully downloadable and free. The best way to access past proceedings is  at our website as there is a convenient search box that lets you access the material efficiently. You may wish to bookmark this link to the Oxford Proceedings going back to 1981.
Funds from the Friends support several grant programs: Student Research Grants, Best Student Paper Presentations, and the Young Chef’s Grant. Together, these grant programs enable an increasing number of young people to attend the Symposium, enriching the Symposium experience for all of us.
The 2016 plenaries and paralell sessions were filmed and are freely available on YouTube here.
The Symposium has just launched a podcast series which is supported by the Friends. Each podcast gives a lively personal glimpse of the background of an individual presenter’s work. the podcasts are available free on iTunes here.
The next big project we are considering is providing live video casting of the keynote talks for those cannot attend the event itself.
Please donate to the Friends of the Oxford Symposium in order to support the Trustees efforts to continually improve the Symposium’s programs. If you are a UK taxpayer, your donation will qualify for Gift Aid, which will benefit the Symposium even more.
