I am an archivist by profession. I am a passionate historic cook who teaches open hearth and wood cookstove cooking (ca. 1820-1920) at living history museums in upstate New York and a historic recipe tester. The paper I wrote on Amelia Simmons won a Sophie Coe Prize Honorable Mention. I am a forager; an avid home cook; a gardener; a cider, maple syrup, and sweetmeat maker; a researcher; a collector of old cookbooks; and am extremely pleased to be able to attend this Oxford Symposium remotely!
