Updated Symposium Format
We are refreshing the Symposium format to create a more flexible and engaging experience for all symposiasts—whether you join us in person at St Catz or participate entirely online.
Access to Papers and Videos. All registered symposiasts will have access to draft papers and short, pre‑recorded video talks from all presenters. These materials will be released in June and remain available on the symposium website through the end of October, allowing time to read, watch, and reflect.
At St Catz, presentations will be followed by audience Q&A. Each paper will also have an online discussion board, open to all symposiasts—both in person and online—during the St Catz weekend and through October.
Online only tickets will be at a much reduced rate to reflect these changes and the online programme and schedule will be released in June.
Online Conversations. The online programme will take a new direction, inspired by our Kitchen Table conversations. Instead of concentrating activity into July, we are allowing more time for engagement with papers and videos.
In September and October, we will host four Zoom conversations bringing together multiple paper authors to explore Poverty Food in broader, more interdisciplinary ways. All symposiasts are welcome to participate, and additional Zoom sessions may follow over the year as new themes emerge from St Catz.
Voting on a Future Symposium Topic. We are restoring the much‑loved live vote for a future symposium topic—now open to everyone. When the symposium website goes live in June, all symposiasts may propose and comment on topic ideas. Nominations will close at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, 10 July, as the St Catz symposium begins. Online participants may rank choices in advance or join a Zoom session to vote in real time. A written symposium report will be published in autumn 2026.
Online‑Only Participation at St Catz. If there is sufficient interest, we may schedule dedicated Zoom sessions for online‑only presenters during the St Catz weekend. These sessions will be open to all online symposiasts, with questions from St Catz facilitated on site.
